South Coast Carnival Update

  • 13 Dec 2018

The South Coast Carnival that launches on Saturday, 15 December, has changed the Parade route to St Mike’s to minimise impact on high season traffic coming in.

The Carnival Parade will no longer leave from Shelly Skiboat Club to St Mike’s, but from the Uvongo Town Hall. Registration will be from 9am with the Parade starting from 11am and ending at 1pm. The Parade will not use Marine Drive, but be routed along the coast. Please see attached route map.

Marshals have been employed to keep the procession in order, accompanied by 6 security vehicles to ensure safety. Two medics will also be on standby throughout.

Further changes are:

1. Ticket prices have been reduced to R80 for general entry and R150 for golden circle. The R350 VIP tickets and R50 for Kids Zone remain. Festival goers can book their tickets through Computicket or at St Mike’s on the day. R50 plus a carnival costume ensures individuals are part of the Parade and also allows access to the St Mike’s carnival arena.

2. Cooler boxes can be brought in at R100 p/cooler box up until 3pm only. Otherwise no alcohol is allowed. The organiser is currently awaiting their temporary liquor licence. People are also encouraged to bring camping chairs for comfort.

Let’s all do our bit to ensure this event is a success, as it would be great to host our own annual Carnival on the KZNSouthCoast. Not only does the event entertain those who visit us during the time, once established, this event has the potential to draw visitors to our destination and also creates opportunities for you to benefit.
